Zoya Julieanne

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Good morning! This is the last of my swatch pictures. Everything from now on will be more nail art manicures or what I'm actually wearing in real life. If I get free time, I'll definitely be swatching more colors to show you all but I'm happy to see that my blogging folder has reduced in photos quite a bit. Let's see the polish for today then.

Zoya Julieanne has a dark blacken sheer purple base packed with a brighter light purple shimmer. I love how much depth this polish has. I wasn't expecting it to be so pretty but once I applied it on my nails, I fell in love. Formula and application was great like most of the Zoya polishes I've tried so far. This is two coats.

This is a lovely dark purple in my collection. I especially love the shimmer in it. What do you think of this color?

Leopard Print and Saran Wrap

Monday, August 26, 2013

Hey everyone! I've been itching to do some nail art since its been a while on my blog. I wanted to use some of the new colors I hauled as well as mix some techniques together. I decided to mix leopard print with the saran wrap technique as well as add some glitter to the mix. Let's see how it turned out.

Nabi, Barielle, Born Pretty Store Round Glitter, Seche Vite, dotting tool

For my base color, I used Nabi Angel Blue on all my nails. Starting with my pinky and thumb, I used Barielle Welcome Ohm with the saran wrap method to create the design. I added two purple iridescent glitters from Born Pretty Store on my pinky. Use coupon code YCL91 at checkout to get 10% off your entire order. With my ring finger, I applied Nabi Multi Jumbo Glitter. For my middle and pointer finger, I used a dotting tool to create a leopard print using Barielle Welcome Ohm and Barielle Cashmere Or Loose Me. Lastly, I applied Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

This was my first time using the Nabi colors I got and I have to say they smell really bad. The smell is even stronger than regular polish so the fumes on them are super strong. I got a little head ache from them so I recommend wearing a face mask or opening a window when your using them. Other than that, I love how this manicure turned out. I especially love how the saran wrap nails look. What do you think of this manicure?

Versatile Blogger Award

Friday, August 23, 2013

Hello everyone! This post is long overdue but I was nominated by the lovely Jayna from The Sequined Nail back in July for the Versatile Blogger Award.  You can check out her original post here. Thank you to Jayna for nominating me, its such a honor whenever I get nominated for these blogger awards.

Versatile Blogger Award

The Rules:
1. Thank the person who nominated you.
2. Include a link to their blog.
3. Select 15 new bloggers you recently discovered or follow regularly.
4. Nominate those bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award, leave a link to their blog, and let them know they have been nominated.
5. Tell the person you nominated 7 things about yourself.

7 Things About Me
1. I'm not a very fashionable person since I tend to stick to comfortable clothes and not stray out of my comfort zone.
2. As you all know, I'm not loving the job I have right now. Its just something to earn a little extra spending money for me but I'm thinking of finding a new one if I can. I've worked at one other place so I think it will be a great learning experience for me to branch out and work at a couple different companies. It builds my resume too which is always a good thing.
3. I'm the neat freak in my family. Everything has to be clean to my liking or else I get very antsy about it.
4. I own a lot of nail polish but I don't think I've tried about half of my collection. I'm a total hoarder.
5. I actually like to save my money more than spend it. Other than buying nail polish, I refuse to spend my money on anything else unless its absolutely necessary.
6. I'm kind of distanced/not close with my oldest sister. We don't talk as much as we used to.
7. I don't know what I want for a life time career. I'm taking business administration this fall but its not something I'm super passionate about. I'm kind of okay in every subject so nothing really keeps me interested or super motivated. I just want a career that makes me happy.

The Blogs I Nominate
Polished Prescription
The Nail Polish Challenge
Chameleon Stampede

Winne the Pooh Nails

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Good morning! I have a different kind of nail art design for you today. I did a character manicure inspired by cutepolish. Check out her video tutorial on Cute Winnie the Pooh Nails. I'm not that amazing on doing characters so when I saw this tutorial from her, I knew I had to try it out. Plus, Winnie the Pooh was one of my favorite childhood characters growing up.

Nicole by OPI, American Apparel, Seche Vite, dotting tool

I used Nicole by OPI Hit The Lights and created a head shape using the brush on the bottle. Then taking a large dotting tool, I dotted ears on the side of the head. For the details on the face, I used a toothpick and a dotting tool with American Apparel Hassid to create the facial features. Finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Yikes! This turned out so bad! Not only did I smudge the design thus ruining it when I applied my top coat but the lines I created with the toothpick didn't turn out as smooth as I wanted. Its not my best but since it was my first time doing an actual character, it turned out okay. What do you think of my Winnie the Pooh nails?

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue

Monday, August 19, 2013

Hey everyone! I was supposed to work today but now I don't. I'm happy to have a free day since that means more time dedicated to blogging and other things. Let's see the blue polish I have for Monday Blues!

Sally Hansen Pacific Blue is a bright medium blue creme. I'm a huge fan of this color. I just love how vibrant it looks while at the same time not being too bright on the nails. Formula and application in this line is great too. As you can see, there's so much shine to it even without a top coat applied. This is two coats.

I think this is one of my favorite blue cremes in my collection. Its just so lovely. What do you think of this color?

China Glaze Mahogany Magic

Friday, August 16, 2013

Good morning! I'm going to attempt to get all my textbooks today so wish me luck that I will be able to get everything at a good price. I was planning to get my student ID as well but those don't start until next week. I'm pretty busy next week too so I decided I'll just go again on the one free day I have to quickly get it along with my student bus pass. Can you believe I'm working 6 days for the next two weeks? Its crazy even though I wrote down that I wanted to work a maximum of 4 days on my availability. Let's see the polish I have today.

China Glaze Mahogany Magic is a brown creme with a hint of yellow/olive undertones to it. This is a pretty unique brown in my collection because the tone of color is almost dirty on my nails. I don't know if I like it or not. Formula and application was good though. I applied two coats below.

This is definitely one of those ugly colors that looks good. I'm not sure if it works with my skin tone though. Its a nice color in my collection regardless. What do you think of this color?

Barielle Welcome Ohm

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Hey everyone! My work place has such a crappy scheduling system. For the most part, there's always a new change in my work shifts almost all the time. It sucks since this week I was suppose to have three days off but now I only have two. I hope they will eventually stop adding and changing my shifts when I go back to school. It makes it impossible for me to plan to do anything when I do have a free day in fear of having to work instead. Anyways, let see the color I have today.

Barielle Welcome Ohm is a warm medium plum purple creme. This is one of my favorite purple colors in my collection. The formula and application was great. Its super flattering on my nails too. I did notice that it didn't level off evenly but a top coat will totally fix that. I applied two coats below.

Barielle Welcome Ohm

Purples is the one color I don't own a lot of in my collection which is surprising to me. I really need to fix that and go on a hunt for some more. What do you think of this color?

OPI Stranger Tides

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Good morning everyone! I've been slacking a bit with my nails and just letting them be naked for about a week now. Its nice to take a breather sometimes. I actually filed them down quite a bit too so there little nubs right now. It a good thing I have some swatch pictures taken beforehand so I'm posting them all up just to clear some space in my blogging folder. Let's see the polish I have to show today.

OPI Stranger Tides is a light murky khaki green creme. It definitely has some grey undertones to it as well. The formula was okay because I noticed when I was applying the color, it did get a bit patchy on me. This is two coats.

This is definitely a unique color in my collection. I really like it since it acts like a alternative neutral color to wear other than your standard pinks and nudes. What do you think of this color?

Orly Stone Cold

Monday, August 12, 2013

Hey everyone! I was able to pay my college tuition fees last week so this week I'm planning to go to the bookstore at my college to get my textbooks. I'm going to go on Friday since this week is buyback week and I want to make sure there's used books for sale so I don't have to pay as much with a brand new one. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be used ones books on sale since I hate paying for new books. Let' see the blue polish I have today.

Orly Stone Cold is a highly shimmery blue fleck glitter in a sheer blue base. The glitter in this looks like flakie pieces to me than the tradition shaped glitters. Formula and application was great. This color is so gorgeous in the bottle and it translated just as awesome on the nails too. I used two coats below.

This has to be one of my favorite blues in my collection. It really pops off the nails and I love how it kind of glows here too. What do you think of this color?

Born Pretty Store Review - Round Glitters

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Hey everyone! Today, I have an exciting review for Born Pretty Store. I was recently contacted and after checking out their website, I agreed to do a review. Their website has a ton of nail art supplies, stationary items, jewelry, and much more. After browsing their site, I decided to try out their glitter set of 12 round glitters.

Here's a picture I took right after taking the glitter set out of the package. As you can see, some glitters did spill out during shipping. I noticed that most of the lids on the containers the glitters were in were loose which allowed the glitter to spill out. It was easy to clean up and fix though but I just wanted to let you all know.

Born Pretty Store Round Circle Glitters

In this set, it mostly contains translucent light glitters but it does come with your standard silver, gold, and black. All these glitters kind of shine different colors depending on the light too. Most of the glitters are really subtle looking which I like since it makes it a little more unique. As you can see, the amount of glitters in each pot varies, with some being super full to others being less than half full.

Starting with my pinky, I have on Finger Paints To-Teally Chic, Essie Splash of Grenadine, Nicole by OPI Selena, and Zoya Bevin. I used four different colored glitter on each nail. As you can see, I did two full nail accents and two simple designs. They did however tended to look pretty similar to one another once they were on my nails.

The glitters were easy to place with a help of some top coat and a toothpick. Regarding the size, they weren't too big or small for my nails. After placing them on, I sealed them in with a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. This was my first time using nail glitter so its not the best looking but I think with a little more practice, I can do better.

Overall, this set is nice. It does take some patience placing each individual glitter on the nails. The only problem I had was that some glitters were stuck together so I had to use my fingers to make sure I was only placing one piece on my nails. Shipping took around 2-3 weeks to arrive here in Canada which is a pretty normal shipping time from a international place like Singapore. For 12 pots of glitter for $7.60, I think its a great deal especially since it will take a while to use them all up with the amount you get. I love that they offer free worldwide shipping too.

If your a beginner like me and looking to try out some nail art glitter, I definitely recommend these to start out with. There's a nice variety of colors and I like that instead of the traditional hexagon shape, its round instead. Just be warned that your set might arrive a little messy like mine and that each pot of glitter may not have the same amount in each along with a possibly long shipping time.

If your interested in this set of 12 round glitters, you can get an additional 10% off using the discount code YCL91

Thank you to Born Pretty Store for providing me this glitter set for review. I will definitely be purchasing and checking out more nail art items from you in the future. Check out Born Pretty Store on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Youtube, and on Blogger too!
