The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Flowers Week 4

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Hello again! Here's my fourth and last manicure for this month's flower theme for the The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I went all out and decided to combine all the different flowers I can create on my nails. This month has been super busy in terms of blogging and work so for August, I'm going to take a little break and not post every single day. There will still be some nail art manicures but not as much as this month. Hope that's okay. Let's see what I did then.

For my base color, I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. For all the flowers, I used a combination of Barielle Gotta Have Fate, Barielle Welcome Ohm, Sephora by OPI Ocean Love Potion, Sephora by OPI Blue Grotto to create them. For the tools, I used a dotting tool and a toothpick. Lastly, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

This design is a little busy but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Since I used the same colors on each nail design, that helped to tie in each nail to one another. What do you think of this multiple flower manicure?

Oh Mon Dieu! 31 Day Challenge Day 31 - Recreate Your Favorite (from someone else)

Hey everyone! Can you believe its the end today? I want to give a huge thank you to Eeeek! Nail Polish!, Craftynail, and Brijit’s Digits for creating and hosting this amazing nail art challenge. It was a lot of fun to participate in and my nail art skills have definitely improved because of it. Some of the themes in this challenge also pushed me to go outside of my comfort zone and try new things I never thought of doing before too. Anyways, let's see my last and final manicure for the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge today.

For day 31, the theme is recreate your favorite manicure from someone else. There were a lot of great manicures in this challenge but one of my favorites has to be from Eeeek! Nail Polish!. I'm recreating her OMD Challenge Day 13 - Dots manicure. I just love the look of it and you all know my love for polka dots.

OPI, Nicole By OPI, Seche Vite, dotting tool

For my base color, I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Using some scotch tape, I tapped my nails off in a slated shape. Taking Nicole by OPI Selena, Nicole by OPI Find Your Passion, Nicole by OPI That's Totally Red-ical, and Nicole by OPI Spring Break, I used my dotting tool to create dots all over the tapped off center. Immediately after, I quickly peeled off the tape. After letting it dry, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Sadly, I didn't wait long enough for the base color to dry before applying the scotch tape so it got dented a bit. Plus, I smudged the dots with my top coat. Other than that, I'm really happy with how this turned out. The colors I used here worked really well together too. What do you think of this dot manicure?

Oh Mon Dieu! 31 Day Challenge Day 30 - Favorite Comic Book (or Character)

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Hey everyone! Can you believe this challenge is ending tomorrow? I can't believe I did 31 manicures and kept up with it. I'm super proud of my self too and I know this helped improve my nail art skills as well. Let's see my second to last manicure for the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge.

For day 30, the theme is favorite comic book or character. I wasn't a huge fan of comic books growing up so I had no clue where to start. I decided to go with Spider-man since that was the only one I was really familiar with. I actually remember watching the first Spider-man movie when it came out and it being really awesome. So, let's see what I did on my nails.

First, I have American Apparel Downtown LA on all my nails except for the ring finger. On my ring finger, I have on Essie Mesmerize.Taking stamping plate BM-315, I stamped using American Apparel Hassid on all the red nails. I didn't have a spider design so I choose the closest one I had to it with the design I stamped with. Then I used my dotting tool and a toothpick to create a spider on my pointer finger. Lastly, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

I actually really liked how this turned out in the end. I wasn't expecting it to come out so good since I did this kind of on a whim but I'm surprised to say it did. What do you think of my Spider-man inspired manicure?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Flowers Week 3

Monday, July 29, 2013

Hello again! Here's my third manicure for this month's flower theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I just want to say that I'm loving floral manicures a lot. There's something so girly and cute about them even though I was pretty much a tomboy growing up. I did another vintage rose design but this time I did all my nails the same. Let's see how it looks.

For my base color, I used American Apparel American Denim. Taking China Glaze Escaping Reality, I dabbed some blobs on each of my nails to start the roses off. When that's dried, I took American Apparel Downtown LA and a small dotting tool to create little c shapes around and inside the blob. Then I took China Glaze Exotic Encounters to create little leaves on each rose with my dotting tool. Finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

I love vintage roses and these turned out really good! There just so girly and fun. I'm also really happy with how the colors worked together here too. What do you think of my vintage rose manicure?

Oh Mon Dieu! 31 Day Challenge Day 29 - Inspired by Fashion

Hello everyone! Whew, this week has been busy for me. My work place always has these three day sales on Friday to Sunday which is when I usually work so its super busy. When sales are involved, customers can get very mean and rude too. I'm just happy that its over and I have a free day today. I'm going to go hang out with my siblings and have a relaxing day. Anyways, let's see today's manicure for the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge.

For day 29, the theme is inspired by fashion. I went on the Forever21 site to see if anything would catch my attention and something sure did! I decided to do a simple tie dye design after seeing a dress on the site. Let's see how I did.

Here's the dress I was inspired by. I liked how the blue tie dye looked against the stark white here.

For my base color, I used Sally Hansen White On. Taking my a small dotting tool, I used Sephora by OPI Blue Grotto to create the tie dye effect by making irregular shaped lines and splotches. Lastly, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat to add some shine and to smooth out the manicure.

These turned out really nice. Its doesn't look exactly like the dress but I still liked how it looks. I might try this design again with different colors too. What do you think of my tie dye manicure?

Oh Mon Dieu! 31 Day Challenge Day 28 - Inspired by a TV Show

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Good morning everyone! I have an early work shift this morning so I'm just going to get into today's manicure for the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge.

For day 28, the theme is inspired by a tv show. I was a huge fan of cartoon/animated shows growing up. One of my favorites was Dragon Ball Z. I remember always watching it and never missing an episode when it was airing. So, I decided to do a design inspired by the show. Let's see how how it turned out.

Taking a small dotting tool, I used American Apparel Downtown LA to create stars on my middle and pinky finger to represent the dragon balls. For my thumb, I wrote DBZ on the nail. Taking BM-313, I stamped using Finger Paints Tough Art To Follow to create dragon scales. Lastly, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Oh Mon Dieu! 31 Day Challenge Day 27 - Jewelry

Saturday, July 27, 2013

Hello everyone! Had to wake up early today to get some stuff done before I go to work and work 8 hours. Let's see today's manicure for the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge.

For day 27, the theme is jewelry. I actually wear almost no kind of jewelry except for my daily pair of stud earrings. I do own a few bracelets so I wanted to draw inspiration from one of them. I was inspired by a bracelet I've owed for a while. Its called Arabian Nights and was made by Nicole Dominique Jewelry Line.

Lastly, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

Oh Mon Dieu! 31 Day Challenge Day 26 - Favorite Holiday/Vacation

Friday, July 26, 2013

Hey everyone! There's nothing exciting happening today other than work for me so let's see the manicure I have for the Oh Mon Dieu! It’s the Rather Awesome 31 Day Challenge.

For day 26, the theme is favorite holiday/vacation. I actually don't have a favorite holiday and I've never really been on a true vacation. I do love the colder season so I decided to pick Christmas as my favorite holiday since I love the snow and spending time with my family during this time of of the year. Let's see what I did on my nails then.

Winter Themed Stamping
Winter Themed Stamping
OPI, Sephora by OPI, Color Club, Sally Hansen, Seche Vite

I started with OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for my base color except for my ring finger. On my ring finger, I have on Sephora by OPI Ocean Love Potion. With stamping plates BM-318 and BM-321, I stamped some winter themed designs using Color Club Berry and Bright, Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly, Sally Hansen White On, and Sephora by OPI Ocean Love Potion. Lastly, I applied my Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

The stamping was kind of a fail for my middle finger. The images weren't transferring well onto my nails since the colors I used was causing me some trouble. I still think it turned out nice though. What do you think of my winter themed nails?
