The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Technique Week 3

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

Hello everyone! This is my third manicure for this month's technique theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I decided to go with taping or making my own nail decals as the technique of choice. I had great success doing chevron nails before that I decided to do another one. Let's see how it turned out.

Misa, American Apparel, OPI, Seche Vite

For my base color, I used Misa Taking Chances. Prior to painting my nails, I made homemade chevron nail decals by taking a piece of parchment paper and painting a coat of polish on it. After letting it dry overnight, I cut the chevron stripes with a pair of zig zag scissors. I used American Apparel Malibu Green and OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! for the chevron stripes. Lastly, I applied Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

I'm starting to get the hang of using my homemade nail decals. It does take some patience placing them on but the result always turn out great. I'm loving how the colors look together too. What do you think of my green and grey chevron nails?

  2. Looks great! I have tried painting the polish on a plastic bag but it didn't work. I have to try it with paper too.

    1. Thanks! Yeah, try parchment paper, works much better since I tried the plastic bag way and it didn't work out for me too.
