The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Halloween Week 4

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween! Here is my last manicure for this month's Halloween theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I went with a simple dripping blood manicure since I've seen these around but haven't tried it once on myself.

For my base color, I used American Apparel Dance. For my ring finger, I did a glitter accent using I Love Nail Polish Bad Mogwai. For the blood drips, I used American Apparel Downtown LA with a dotting tool to create the effect. Then I applied Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

These look so scary and cool. I was surprised they turned out so good since the design doesn't require you to make it look a certain way to replicate dripping blood. What do you think of this manicure?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Halloween Week 3

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Hey everyone! Here is my third manicure for this month's Halloween theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I can't believe October is almost over since this month went by so fast for me. I decided to do a candy corn gradient since its a popular candy for Halloween and I thought the colors would make a great gradient together.

First, I used Sally Hansen White On on all my nails except for the ring finger. For the ring finger, I used Nicole by OPI Love Song. I applied Girly Bits Candy Corn as a glitter accent on top. For the white nails, I sponged on the white, Jessica Tangerine Dreamz, and Nicole by OPI Hit The Lights with a makeup sponge to create a candy corn gradient. Lastly, I applied OPI Top Coat.

I need to try gradients more often since the final result looks so nice. After doing these Halloween theme designs this month, I realized I don't own much orange in my collection. This one from Jessica is the only orange creme I own which was surprising to me. What do you think of this manicure?

Feather Water Nail Decals with Glitter Gradient

Friday, October 25, 2013

Hello everyone! Here's an exciting manicure I have to share today. I think its one of my favorites to date too. I've received some feather water nail decals from Born Pretty Store quite a while back but haven't had the chance to try them out until now. This manicure turned out so much more amazing than I pictured in my mind too. A design like this is one of the reasons it keeps me motivated to explore the variety of nail art I can use and experiment with.

For my base color, I have on Cynthia Rowley Nail Color in a minty color. For the subtle glitter gradient I created, I used Ulta Indigo-Go Girl. Taking my Born Pretty Store Feather Water Nail Decals, I applied two different designs on my manicure based on the instructions provided. One is a white feather and the other is a blue and pink feather combination. Use coupon code YCL91 for an additional 10% off your order. Topped it all off with a coat of OPI Top Coat.

This was my first time trying out water nail decals and it turned out great. What a quick and easy way to get a nail art design in your manicure. They were easy to apply too. These feather water nail decals only cost $4.73 for 11 sets of feather designs. These will last me a while, especially if I use them only for an accent on the nails. Born Pretty Store always has deals/sales going on so I'm sure you can get them for even cheaper too. Be sure to check them out for a variety of nail art supplies. What do you think of this feather water nail decal manicure?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Halloween Week 2

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Hello everyone! For the next few posts, expect to see some changes in my pictures since I'm going to be experimenting a bit and seeing which hand positions I will be keeping and using for my blog. I'm trying different fonts and sizes with my watermark too. Anyways, here's my second manicure for this month's Halloween theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I got inspiration once again from a Halloween nail art tutorial from MissJenFABULOUS.

Sally Hansen, Misa, Seche Vite

For my base color, I used Sally Hansen Evening Fog. Then I roughly did french tips with Misa Green with Envy. With a black acrylic paint pen, I created a stitch design by outlining the top of the french tip and then adding some lines in between. I finished it off with Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

The stitches turned out a little thicker than I intended them to be but they still look great here. I'm happy with how this turned out and you can totally make this manicure your own depending on the color you choose to use for the french tips. What do you think of this manicure?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - Halloween Week 1

Monday, October 21, 2013

Hey everyone! Here's my first manicure for this month's Halloween theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I went with something simple but really cute. I don't celebrate Halloween so I went on Youtube to find some inspiration. I got inspired by MissJenFABULOUS to recreate her Halloween Spooky Eye Nail Art manicure.

American Apparel, Sally Hansen, Jessica, Happy Hands, Seche Vite

First, I used American Apparel Hassid on all my nails except for the ring finger. Taking a dotting tool, I used Sally Hansen White On to dot a pair of eyes on each black nail. Taking the black polish again, I dotted each white eye to create some spooky googly eyes. For my ring finger, I have on Jessica Tangerine Dreamz. I layered Happy Hands Easy Bake Coven on top as a glitter accent. Lastly, I applied a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

This is simple but it turned out so cute. You can use this design with a lot of different base colors too. I showed this to my sister and she thought it was such a cool design. What do you think of this manicure?

Ulta Little Black Dress

Thursday, October 17, 2013

Hey everyone! This is the last swatch pictures in my blogging folder. Surprised I managed to get through it too. This means I need to dedicate some time to swatching some colors this weekend. Let's see the polish then.

Ulta Little Black Dress is a black with silver shimmer. This is the first Ulta polish I've tried and I like the color. Its not the most unique but the shimmer in it is pretty. One thing I didn't like is the cap on the bottle since it made it awkward holding it while I was painting my nails. Formula is on the thicker side but application was easy. This is two coats.

This is a great dark polish for the fall but I feel like I've seen a lot of similar colors from different brands. Its a nice alternative to just a creme black though. What do you think of this color?

Misa Taking Chances

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts this month but I've just been busy with my classes. When that dies down, I'll be sure to post more for you guys so in the meantime posting will be a little infrequent. My blogging folder is almost cleared so I'll have to dedicate some time in taking momre pictures. Here's a really unique polish I have to show today.

Misa Taking Chances is a peachy apricot packed with gold shimmer. This is such a unique color in my collection because I don't have anything like it. I actually really like how it looks on my nails which was a surprise since I didn't think it would look good on me. I especially like the gold shimmer in it because it adds such depth to the peach color. The formula and application was great on it too. I applied two coats below.

The finish almost reminds me of a metallic polish for some reason. Its such a lovely shade to have in my collection and I think its perfect for the fall season right now too. What do you think of this color?

Nabi Baby Pink

Saturday, October 12, 2013

Hi everyone! Sorry for the weird lighting in the pictures below. For some reason, some of the pictures I've taken recently appears much darker when I have them on the blog compared to how they look as a file on my computer. Weird right? Anyway, here's the polish I have today to share with you all.

Nabi Baby Pink is a pink creme. The formula has a thicker consistency but the application was good when I applied the color in three strokes. The smell on these polishes are strong so be sure to open a window when your using them. Its a pretty bubble gum pink but its not terribly unique that you need to run out and get it. This is two coats.

I have so much pink in my collection now compared to when I first started. I like the pink but with so many other pinks in my collection, this color doesn't particularly stand out. What do you think of this color?

Sephora by OPI Only Gold for Me

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Hello everyone! As midterms are approaching, there's been a lot of assignments and projects starting too. I just hope I can keep up and do well on them. To help relieve the stress, let's see what polish I have today.

Sephora by OPI Only Gold for Me has gold medium hexagon and small glitters in a clear base. I love any kind of glitter top coats so this one is lovely if your looking for something subtle and light. The glitter coverage is a little sparse but you can easily build up the coverage to your particular liking. Like most glitters, I did have to use the dabbing method a bit to place where I wanted the glitter pieces to go on my nails. This one coat over American Apparel Mouse.

This is a really fun all gold glitter. I can imagine a lot of colors I can layer this over with and gold is such a great holiday color too. What do you think of this glitter?
