Sephora by OPI Too Good for Him

Big question to ask you all! Would you prefer that I swatch my polishes with or without a top coat? I usually don't apply top coat to regular polish but sometimes for glitter I have to, just to smooth out the surface. Let me know your thoughts since I'm thinking of applying a top coat to at least the glitters I swatch. I like the look I got from applying top coat from the last glitter I showed.

Sephora by OPI Too Good for Him has small purple, blue, and gold glitters in a clear base. This glitter is packed so its pretty opaque that you could probably use it as full coverage glitter by itself. The formula and application was great on this. This is one coat over Nabi Angel Blue.

I didn't think I would like this glitter but surprisingly, I'm enjoying it much more than I thought I would. What do you think of this glitter?

  1. That's a really nice nail polish as the glitter isn't too large! I think your suggestion of just putting topcoat on glitter is good if you don't normally. :)

    1. Thank you, I really like that the glitter pieces aren't too large too. I might have to do just that but now I need to do to buy myself a new top coat for swatching purposes :)

  2. This is a really pretty glitter! I don't remember seeing this one before. I usually put a top coat on all of the polishes that I post mainly because I always wear them for more than just pictures but not everyone does. If you're just swatching, I don't think it's totally necessary for cremes but in my opinion some glitters look better with top coat.

    1. Thanks Melissa for the suggestion! I'll probably start using top coat on the glitters and probably on colors I think need it :) Sometimes I wear what I'm actually swatching and other times, I'm just swatching.

  3. Gorgeous glitter. I vote for with topcoat, maybe not on mattes and holos but I like to see how the polish is with topcoat because if I would like to buy a polish I most certainly will use topcoat, how many topcoats did I say in this comment ;) :p

    1. Thanks Elin! Yeah, I guess top coat it is then. If a polish is already glossy on its own, I'll skip it but if not, I'll add a top coat then :)

  4. I use TC when I think it needs it. I do usually do it for glitter because I think they look best that way. This is a fun polish and I liked how you layered it.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion! I think I'll do it the same way you do it then. That seems like the best option to me. I still do have some swatch pictures left so I'll post those and start applying top coat to the rest of my swatches I do in the future :)

  6. I don't really have a preference when I'm looking at swatches as to whether or not the blogger uses topcoat... but definitely mention whether you did or not in your post! I would want to know if a polish is really shiny on it's own or if it's the top coat! :) I love the colors in the glitter! Personally I don't like the look of a microglitter alone... I would only wear a microglitter like this layered. Great color combo! :)

    1. Thanks for the suggestion! That's what I was planning to do too! Sometimes its hard to tell whether top coat is used so I make sure to mention that I used it in my post. Yeah, sometimes I don't like micro glitters too but this one is nice :)

  8. Great polish! I love all of the glitters inside it! I think you should do swatches without a topcoat so that we can see the polish by itself! You could perhaps do a comparison photo though - to show the glitter swatches with a topcoat and without? Hope that helps :)

  9. What a pretty glitter! I love that it's not too large but not too small. It looks perfect over your base color.

  10. Beautiful! I usually topcoat my swatches, especially glitters because I love how they look glossy. I think as long as you tell your readers it's with topcoat it's fine. You could always take it before topcoat too :) xx

    1. Thanks for the helpful suggestions Char! I think I'll write down in my posts when there is topcoat applied too. As a reader, that's what I would like to see :)

  12. I usually try to have a picture without topcoat, and then finish with a completed look, including topcoat. Glitters can change the way they look completely with or without topcoat, so it's nice to see what it would look like both ways, if I'm looking for swatch accuracy. Your mileage may vary!

    1. Yeah, I think I'll probably go the route where when I feel like it needs a top coat, I will do that and say in the post whether I used one or not. I know myself as a reader, sometimes I wonder whether a color I see swatched has top coat or not too. I would love to do pictures with and without top coat but I want to keep the minimum amount of pictures to two for swatches.
