Shimmering Mermaid has large silver holographic hexagon, medium blue hexagon, and smaller light blue glitters in a clear base. Formula and application was great on this. I love that this glitter is so subtle and spare because you can layer it over a bunch of different colors to get a variety of looks. This is two coats over Essie Absolutely Shore with top coat.
Mint Microglitter is packed with small mint micro glitters in a clear base. Its hard to tell but I will say this mint leans a bit more green than blue to me. The formula on this is a little thicker than the previous glitter but still easy to apply. You can also wear this over a similar colored base polish to lessen how much coats you apply. This is three coats with top coat.
I also received some nail decals to review as well. I actually thought these would be bigger but I like that there smaller. They come in a variety of colors you can choose from as well as different designs. I received the white half chevrons nail decals and the neon pink triangle nail decals.
This nail art is pretty simple. I started with Barielle Do Unto Others on all the nails except for the ring. I used Beyond the Nail Mint Microglitter on top. I applied the pink triangle nail decals on the base of each nail. For the ring, I have on Sephora by OPI Light as a Feather. I applied the white half chevrons nail decals down the center of that nail. Finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.
*I was testing out the light box I made so sorry for the less than stellar lighting here.*
The only issue I had was that the triangle nail decals didn't want to lay full flat on my nails. So I suggest using it more on the sides of the nail instead of in the center where your nail is more curved. Other than that, they were easy to apply with tweezers and they look great too.
Final Impression
Overall, I really like their polishes and their nail decals. The formula, color selection, and price is great. My favorites have to be Shimmering Mermaid and the white half chevron decals.
Their polishes cost $9-10 and both nail decals cost $3.50 each. Check out Beyond the Nail over at their etsy shop HERE. Be sure to follow them on facebook, twitter, and instagram too!
*Beyond the Nail sent the nail polishes and nail decal vinyls for review purposes. My opinion is 100% honest.*
That blue glitter is pretty...and the 2nd polish, wow! :-) Love the chevron stickers too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! Yeah, that mint microglitter is stunning, so sparkly in real life :) The nail decals are great too!
DeleteI love Shimmering Mermaid! The nail decals look pretty too! How thick are they? I've tried putting chains/studs on my nails before but I just can't fight the urge to pick them off... lol it just bugs me having anything 3D on my nail... especially if the tiniest part starts to lift off... :p are these more like stickers?
ReplyDeleteBTW I notice that you've been posting a lot more often! Do you have any tips for finding more blog time? Or are you on a break from school/work? I wish I had more time to blog! :(
Hi, this is Maddy from Beyond the Nail. I was going to reply to this blog post about the nail decals and then saw your comment, so I figured I would reply to you as well!
DeleteAll of our nail decals are made from vinyl. The neon vinyl is thicker than the other coloured vinyl, so this could be why Lisa is experiencing a problem with it sticking down to her nail. It could be also because she has a microglitter polish underneath and the bumpy surface could affect it from sticking down properly. A layer of topcoat over and under the decal would help it stick down more smoothly (& prevent you from wanting to rip them off! haha). The decals are like stickers - the back of them are sticky and don't necessarily need a tacky layer of nail polish to stick too.
Hope this helps! :)

Thanks Maddy for helping me to reply to this question! I have the same issues with wanting to pick anything that sticks up but these weren't too bad. I'll definitely keep in mind of Maddy's tips though to see if I have get better results doing that too.
DeleteYeah, I'm on my spring break right now which ends next week so that's why I've been posting a lot more. Once I go back to school, its going to die down a bit though. As for tips for more blog time, I suggest dedicating certain days to blogging and doing a bunch of swatches/manicures so that you have material to edit and post for the week. That's what I do :)
Beautiful glitter polish and those stickers are cute!! Your lightbox images are nice and clear, I guess with some more lighting it will get better.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm still not very happy with how the light box is. I think I need to get a white poster board since I'm just using white paper right now and I think that's why the lighting is on the darker/red side. Until then, I'm going to continue with what I'm doing so far.
DeleteShimmering Mermaid is gorgeous! It reminds me of the old version of Essence's Glorious Aquarius that's no longer available, so that's awesome :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I love Beyond the Nail's logo!
Yeah, that glitter is my favorite out of everything! :D Their logo is very cute and professional too.
DeletePrettyyyyy! Shimmering Mermaid kind of reminds me of Essence Glorious Aquarius - one of my fav glitters of all time :)
ReplyDeleteMint Microglitter is beautiful, too - it must shine like crazy in the sun! ;)
Thanks Mina! Your the second person to say Shimmering Mermaid reminds you of that Essence color too :D Totally, it was shining like crazy when it wasn't in the sun too!
DeleteOmg Love the combo!! Happy Valentine's Day Lisa and thank you for always checking out my posts :)
ReplyDeleteThank you and no problem! I love supporting and commenting on all the blogs I follow. Happy Valentine's Day to you too!
DeleteBoth of those glitters are gorgeous!! Love!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel! :)
DeleteMint Microglitter is so pretty! I love glitters that are full coverage like this -- I need more polishes like this in my life. xD
ReplyDeleteYeah, its really gorgeous and sparkly! You can never have enough glitter in my opinion :)
DeleteWow pretty Mani dear <3
ReplyDeleteI love Shimmering mermaid! :D Not to glittery but still pretty. :) The triangular decal is also really cool! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Breena! :D
DeleteBtw, for the lightbox, try using LED light bulbs. They are way brighter than other lights. :) Plus it's better if you have 4 light sources. One on top, two at both sides and on in front :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions! I don't know if I have room for four light sources though since the table I'm using isn't that big. Maybe I'll just try to experiment to see if I can get better results. If not, I'll just go back to doing what I've been doing for my lighting source :)
DeleteThese polishes look amazing - they're both such nice colours! The decals look great too! :)
ReplyDeleteThey are! Thanks!
Deletewhat a beautiful nail art! And I like these polishes ;)
ReplyDeleteXx julia
Thanks Julia! They are great, I love how much shine/sparkly they have :)
DeleteReally wonderful polishes :)
ReplyDeleteI love those decals! It's too bad they stick up a little- I have that same problem with some bigger nail studs and such.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cait! They weren't too bad on sticking up. I'm going to try to place them over a smoother base to see if that makes any different since I did have it over glitter in my nail art design here.
DeleteI have never heard of this brand before but Shimmering Mermaid is so pretty. I also like the art that you did with it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Its always great to be introduced to a new indie polish brand :)
DeleteOoh, the mint glitter is SO pretty! Cute decals, too!
ReplyDeleteIts stunning and super sparkly too! Thanks!
DeleteGreat polish and they are Canadian :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
