Born Pretty Store Stamper and Scraper Set Review

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

I got sent a stamper and scraper set from Born Pretty Store for review and have been testing it out for about a month now. Stamping is one of the nail art techniques I haven't done much so my skills aren't the best. I've been trying to get better at it so hopefully I'm improving.

My Review
I found this stamper to be easy to use overall. It picked up the images well but not perfect. I like that it has a squishy feel to it so it makes stamping on the nails easy. I tended to only use the white stamper side since I thought the other side was a bit too small to use for me. The only issue I found was that the white side of the stamper tends to want to come off the black holder its in. The scrapers in this set are my favorite. I like that there plastic but still able to provide a good scrape without damaging the stamping plates your using. It nice that it comes in two sizes too.

Here's examples using Born Pretty Store nail stamping plates QA66 and QA62 on how well it stamps. I also tried it out with my Bundle Monster stamping plate BM321 to see if it there was any noticeable differences too. I stamped using American Apparel Hassid. As you can see, it picked up the images pretty well but there are noticeable bald spots here and there.

Here's a tip if your stamper isn't picking up anything is to file it down with a nail file. I don't know how but filing it will help the stamper to pick up an image better. I wasn't able to pick up some images so I filed it with a regular nail file and it seemed to work great afterwards.

Final Thoughts
This Born Pretty Store stamper and scraper set cost $4.46 which is a good deal if your just starting out with stamping and want something affordable. It gets the job done but you do have to work with it to get a good image stamped on the nails. You can also use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your entire order. Have you tried this stamper and scarper set?

    1. Yeah but for the price, I still think it works well enough. You just have to work with it a bit :) Do you mean what's my favorite stamper? Don't have a preference but I like whatever works well, lol.

  4. I just got an identical one from MoYou, but I paid a lot more than $4.46 for it - grrr!

Like you, I found the white stamper bit keeps falling out of the handle. And it doesn't always pick up the pattern perfectly - but it was much better once I'd roughed it up a bit with an emery board. I need to use mine a few more times before I decide if it is better than my old Konad one - at the moment I don't think it stamps so clearly as the Konad but I like the fact that it's bigger - especially when I use it with the MoYou larger image plates - it makes a full nail design possible on longer nails

    1. That's too bad that you got it for a higher price. I hate when that happens.

Yeah, its annoying isn't it? I've heard and seen that you can hot glue gun the stamper into the holder so it doesn't fall out but I'm not sure if I want to try it out. I also have the Konad one and I'm not sure which one I like better. The both seem to work well equally to me. Agree that its great to use for a bigger stamping image too.

  8. Wow cool. Looks identical to my squishy moyou set. I never had to rough mine up though. Mine looks shiny and smooth but stamps well.
But just like yours... mine pops out too!

  9. I have a similar squishy stamper, and I saw another blogger post a tutorial to make the stamp head stick. I can't remember whose it was, but the trick is to take the white head out, rough up the inside a bit with a file or something similar, and then apply a ring of hot glue all around the inside edge. When it cools a little, use your finger to smooth out any rough spots on the glue. Now, the diameter of the opening should be a little smaller. When the glue cools completely, put the stamping head back in - it won't come out until you want it to.

    1. Thanks for the tip! I think I seen or heard about that technique somewhere too. I might try it out but the stamper coming out of the holder isn't too much of a hassle for me.

  10. I have the same one by NinjaPolish. Well, I wonder if it's the same because I've never had problems picking up the images fortunately. I've also used the glue trick and no more rubber head losing!

    1. Thanks for letting us know! I believe some are different from others. I've heard that some of these that are selling have more of a squishier head compared to others. I guess depending on where you get it, the quality is a little different.

  11. I also got this stamper. I'm excited to use it. I hope the post office will deliver it soon. :( By the way, about filing the stamper. It's done to remove the protective covering of the silicone. Before buffing it, you can notice a shiny covering. It's supposed to be removed for the image to adhere well :)
