This is my fourth and last manicure for this month's summer theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I decided to do a neon inspired distressed nail art design that was inspired by Chalkboard Nails. Check out her tutorial on Distressed Nail Art (Punk/Grungy Effect).
I started with Salon Perfect Sugar Cube. Taking Color Club Amp'd Up, Revlon Rich Raspberry, and Sally Hansen Pacific Blue, I made sure to wipe off the brush almost entirely of polish before lightly swiping the color onto my nails. Doing the same thing with OPI Black Shatter, I swiped that on top of everything to create this distressed look. Finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.
I loved how this turned out! The shatter polish was a bit thick when I was trying to apply it but it kind of works here. What do you think of my grungy neon distressed nails?

DeleteWow, that looks great Lisa!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThese actually reminded me of those melted crayon paintings that you see on pinterest...very cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Happy to hear you like it :)
DeleteI was totally thinking that this looks like shatter... and then I realized that you DID use shatter! lol... I really like the way this turned out... the shatter adds to the distressed effect! And I definitely like the use of shatter this way than the normal application of shatter... it doesn't cover so much of the nail... definitely looks nicer... I think I actually have a way to use all my abandoned shatters now... well the ones that didn't dry up... thanks for the idea :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I found another way to use shatter with this nail art too. I bought a bunch and kind of regret it now since there just sitting in my collection, possibly drying out. I'll probably be using them this way too :)
