Distressed Geometric Stamping

Tuesday, March 4, 2014

I've been trying to get into stamping recently since I have quite a few nail stamping plates that hasn't been used or tested. I like how quick and easy stamping can be for nail art but I think I prefer doing free handed nail art much more. What about you?

Barielle, Salon Perfect, American Apparel, Sally Hansen

I started with Barielle Gotta Have Fate on my pinky and Barielle Do Unto Others on my ring. For the rest of the nails, I have on Salon Perfect Sugar Cube. With the previous two Barielle colors, I made sure to wipe off the brush on the polish and applied it on the white nails to create a distressed look. I stamped with American Apparel Hassid using Born Pretty Store nail stamping plate QA66. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. Lastly, I finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.

I still need to practice more with stamping but I think I'm slowly improving. I like how colorful this turned out though. What do you think of this manicure?

  3. I think it depends on the design... sometimes I prefer free hand but honestly free hand can be so time consuming! I have a lot of unused plates as well... most days I just slap on a color haha can't even be bothered to stamp :p I love the way the different colors look under the stamping! Great use of the distressed technique!

    1. The majority of the time, I actually like spending extra time on the free handed ones, lol. I just wear one solid color too when I'm feeling lazy too. Thanks!

  4. I feel similarly to you, I enjoyed stamping when I first got into to nail art and then I found out you could paint on your nails, ha!, and now I like how freehand is a lot more customisable, with stamping you're stuck using their designs - but some of them are pretty! Stamping is still a lot of fun and usually quicker than freehand work, too!

I love this look, I really want to try out this distressed technique!

    1. Totally agree that freehand designs are much more custom/unique compared to stamping. But I've seen some amazing stamping from other bloggers as well which makes me want to give it a try more often. Thanks for your thoughts!

  6. I think your stamping looks perfect <3 you should give it a try more often, especially if these are the results!

I get a definite "Miami" vibe from this look. Maybe it's the cues? The geometric shapes? Who knows

  9. You are a freakin' color genius. I love these together, and wouldn't have thought to put them together. I love freehand nail art - there's something zen about painting for me. A design like this one, though? Stamping all the way. The grunge look would just get muddied with my freehand, but looks great under the stamp.
