Tulips and Ribbons For World Parkinson's Day

Thursday, April 10, 2014

The skin around my middle nail is still healing up but I wanted to create a nail art design in support for World Parkinson's Day on April 11th before it was over. Its a good thing that where I usually place my watermark is the area where my skin is damaged at so its not too noticeable.

For the pinky and thumb, I used Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. For the middle and pointer, I used Sally Hansen I Pink I Can. I created tulips using Gosh Hot Coral. With China Glaze Starboard, I created stems and leaves. I also created blue ribbons. The only tool I used was a small detail nail art brush. For the ring nail, I used Love & Beauty Red/Gold. Finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat on all the nails except for the texture ring nail.

I think these turned out nice for being something quick and spontaneous that I did on the spot. What do you think of my red tulips and blue ribbons design?

  1. This is really lovely! My grandpa actually had Parkinson's... I wish I had heard about this earlier so I could have done a mani for it

I hate it when I get cuts around my cuticles/nails! Do you use Photoshop to edit your pictures? The "spot healing brush tool" in Photoshop is my best friend sometimes haha... it can usually erase most cuts... if it's still really bad then I move my watermark to hide it too :)

I really like the texture polish that you used! I also really like Pacific Blue I think I need to buy that one... I've been seeing it around a lot. The tulips are really simple and cute. I usually don't do freehand nail art because I'm not very good at it but I think this design is simple enough that I might give it a try sometime!

    1. Thank you! I'm sure you can still do one even though its passed. Its the thought that counts.

I know! I use GIMP to add my watermark and that's all I really do to edit my pictures. I'm not very tech savvy so I'll have to learn to how to do more advance edits like that in the future, lol. Its nice to hear you can use that to help edit away those issues though.

Its a pretty nice texture shade. Pacific Blue is gorgeous, it such a lovely creme too. I don't do a lot of detailed free handed nail art myself so my skills are not the best. I'm more into doing simple designs like polka dots instead.
