Wish Eyecurl Review

Friday, May 30, 2014

Here's my review on the Wish Eyecurl which is a heated eyelash curler. This is my first time trying one of these tools so let's hear what my thoughts are after testing this out for over a month.

Wishtrend - Wish Eyecurl Review

Description
An electronic heated eyelash curler that helps to maximize and lift your lashes.

Where to Buy
You can purchase the Wish Eyecurl from Wishtrend for $14.99 They offer free worldwide standard shipping on orders over $69 along with free samples included in every order.

How to Get a $5 Voucher
If you use my promo code: 241709612 as the invitation code when you sign up for an account on Wishtrend, you can get a $5 voucher added to your account that can be used towards your purchases. I get a $5 voucher in return too if you use my promo code.

Packaging
The Wish Eyecurl comes in two colors: black and white. I received mine in white to review which I'm happy about. It comes packaged in a plastic packaging that includes a pamphlet and instructions on how to use the tool. Its a pretty sleek plastic eyelash curler with a removable protective cap to help cover the wand. There's a easy on and off switch that lights up when you turn it on. It doesn't come with a AA battery so you do have to buy that separately.
Wishtrend - Wish Eyecurl Review

How it Works
After putting a AA battery in, turn the Wish Eyecurl on. At the tip of the wand, you will notice a red tip that runs along the back of the wand. Wait for the red tip to turn completely white, which indicates that the eyelash curler is fully heated and is ready to be used. Apply the eyelash curler in three sections of your eyelashes. Hold it for a few seconds on the base, middle, and tip of your eyelashes. Repeat until you reached your desired curl.

My Review
I was very excited to try this Wish Eyecurl because to be honest, when I'm curling my eyelashes with a regular eyelash curler, I sometimes pinch myself with it. After testing this for around a month, I can say that I like it but I think I prefer the curl a regular eyelash curler gives me. I have pretty short straight eyelashes so I found myself spending a lot of time using this tool just to get a decent curl on them. I spent a way longer time curling my eyelashes with the Wish Eyecurl than I did with a normal mechanical eyelash curler. It does give my eyelashes a more natural curve but having to spend so much time on it, doesn't make it worth it for me.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I don't recommend the Wish Eyecurl if your looking to get very dramatic curled eyelashes. If your instead looking to give a more natural curl to your eyelashes, I say give the Wish Eyecurl a try. If you have naturally long eyelashes, this might work better out better for you though. Its definitely better as a finishing step after you've curled and applied mascara on your eyelashes to give them an extra boost/lift in my opinion.

Purple Flowers with Yellow Dots

Wednesday, May 28, 2014

This month's theme for The Lacquer Legion is garden. I decided to do some floral nails using a dotting tool. This is one of my favorite ways to get some easy but cute flowers.

Purple Flowers with Yellow Dots Nail Art

I used Orly Ancient Jade on all the nails. With a dotting tool, I used Essence Break Through to make the flowers. Then I used OPI Fiercely Fiona to dot the center of each flower and to fill in the empty spaces on the nails with a few dots. Finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.

I love how these turned out. There so cute and you can do this design with a bunch of different colors too. What do you think of this manicure?

Camouflage Colored Leopard Print

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

I haven't done a leopard print manicure in a while so I decided to do just that. I went with a more camouflage and neutral palette for the color choices with a fun holographic accent.

Camouflage Colored Leopard Print Nail Art

First, I used Essie Sew Psyched on all the nails except for the ring nail. For the camoflauge leopard print, I have on Ciaté Cookies and Cream and Born Pretty Store Sweet Color Black Nail Art Liner. You can use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. For the ring, I have on China Glaze Jungle Queen as the base color with Cameo Colors Lacquers Rainbows & Stuffs on top. Lastly, I finished with a coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat on all the nails.

I used a liner polish to outline the leopard spots and I don't think I like the overall look I got with it. I think I prefer the look I got using a dotting tool or toothpick instead because the lines aren't as smooth as they are here. What do you think?

Girly Skittle

Monday, May 26, 2014

Here's my last manicure for the month's skittle theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I went with something cute and girly for this design. I also used some untried polishes too.

Girly Skittle Nail Art

I started with Julie G Sugar Rush on my pinky, 365 Days of Color Glitter Princess on my ring and middle, Nicole by OPI A Like-Haley Story... on my ring, and Salon Perfect Sugar Cube on my thumb. Using a combination of those polishes, I created a different design on a few of the nails. Finished with a coat of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat on all the nails except for the pinky.

I really like how this turned out. My roses aren't the best but I've been trying to improve them. What do you think of this girly skittle?

Purple Lemonade Stamping

Friday, May 23, 2014

I've been trying to improve my stamping skills but sometimes, it can be a hit or miss for me. Today's stamping was disappointing because I had a hard time getting the image stamped perfectly.

Purple Lemonade Stamping Nail Art

I used Sephora by OPI It's Hippo to Be Square on all the nails. For the lemonade design, I stamped with BM-308 with Barielle Welcome Ohm. Finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.

As you can see, my stamping is kind of all over the place. I think my pointer nail turned out the best though. What do you think?

World Turtle Day

Thursday, May 22, 2014

Here's my manicure to celebrate World Turtle Day on May 23rd. I actually didn't know about this day but I saw that the Nailpolis had a little challenge on it and I wanted to participate in it. So, I went with a simple turtle shell stamping and a turtle character accent.

World Turtle Day Stamping Nail Art

I used Barielle Swizzle Stix on my ring and Barielle Cashmere Or Loose Me on the rest of my nails. I stamped with BM-313 with American Apparel Raccoon on all the nails except for the ring. For the ring, I created a turtle character using Ciaté Cookies and Cream and Sally Hansen Evening Fog along with the browns I've previously mentioned. The tools I used was a dotting tool and a toothpick. Finished with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat.

I'm a little sad the stamping didn't turn out perfect but I think it works here. What do you think?

Memebox Nakedbox #8 Unboxing

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Here's my Nakedbox #8 (currently sold out) unboxing! For this box, they reveal the contents of it so I knew beforehand what I was getting. Let's see what's inside then!

Memebox Nakedbox #8 Unboxing

What is a Nakedbox?
Nakedbox is a beauty box that reveals all the products you will receive for those who are shy in trying out a box without know what's inside. Products are carefully selected in order to give you the best experience and widest exposure to a range of products that's available in Korea. They don't offer a monthly subscription plan right now so you'll have to order each box as they get released. Sign up for their e-mail newsletter on their website to get informed on when each box comes out.

How to Get $7 Off
Sign up for an account on Memebox to get $2 worth of points back and then send an e-mail to hi@memebox.com telling them that The Polish Playground referred you to get $5 worth of points back. You can get $7 off your first box just like that.

What's in the Box
1. SELLA Organic Soap | 18g Sample Size - Worth $3.60
This is a facial soap for cleansing the skin. I've never really tried a cleanser like this so I'm intrigued by it. Its a pretty good size to test out as well.

2. WondeRuci Light Light Eye Balm | 20g Full Size - Worth $17
I currently don't use an eye cream so this product was the one I was most excited about. It has a balm like consistency which is new since I'm used to using creams. I've heard a lot of nice things about this eye balm so hopefully it works well for me.

3. CETTUA Hello Beauty Anti-aging Facial Mask | 14g Full Size - Worth $2.50

5. Nuganic Customized Sunblock Fresh SPF50 PA+++ | 40ml Full Size - Worth $45
This is a double product for me but I'm happy to get another one. I've been using sunscreen more daily in my routine so its nice to have a back up of this.
Memebox Nakedbox #8 Unboxing - Nuganic Customized Sunblock Fresh SPF50 PA+++

Total Value of Box
I received three full sized products and two deluxe sized samples in Nakedbox #8. I couldn't find the value of the EPFORA PIPL set so the total value of the box excluding that is $68.10.

Final Thoughts
I mainly purchased this box for the eye balm so this box wasn't the most exciting for me. I got a double product in the sunscreen and the facial soap isn't something I see myself using all that much. I'm excited to try out the face mask and the EPFORA PIPL set. The only thing I wished to see was maybe an information card explaining what each product is but other than that, I'm happy with the box. What do you think of Nakedbox #8? Have you tried Memebox yet?

Grey and Blue Skittle

Monday, May 19, 2014

Here's my third manicure for this month's theme of skittles for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I went for a more neutral and grey color scheme this time for the skittle. I also did a bit of stamping for the design too because I've been really into it lately.

Grey and Blue Skittle Nail Art

I have OPI I Have A Herring Problem on my pinky, OPI I Vant To Be A-Lone Star on my ring and thumb, and OPI I Don't Give A Rotterdam! on my middle and pointer. For my ring and thumb, I applied OPI The Living Daylights as a glitter on top. For the middle and pointer, I stamped with Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate QA75 using OPI Ski Teal We Drop. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. Finished with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat.

It was cloudy when I took these pictures so its kind of blurry. I wanted to try out this stamping plate again and I think it turned out way better this time too. What do you think?

Pink Half Moon Gradient

Friday, May 16, 2014

I have a tutorial up over at Nail It! on this manicure so be sure to head over there to see how you can create it HERE. It was my first time doing a tutorial so I hope it was easy to understand and follow. I did create something similar to this in a blue version but this time around I went with a pink version just so it was a little bit different from the last one I did.

Pink Half Moon Gradient Nail Art

I used Spoiled by Wet n' Wild Plastic Flamingo on all the nails. Taking some french tip guideline stickers, I applied those near the base of each nail. Then taking a piece of a makeup sponge, I sponged on Gosh Hot Coral and Sally Hansen I Pink I Can. Peel off the stickers to reveal the design. Finished with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat.

I wish the curve on the half moon part was more curved because it looks straight here but I still like how this turned out. What do you think of this pink half moon gradient?

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Thursday, May 15, 2014

I'm a little disappointed with how the swatches for this polish turned out but I wanted to still share it with everyone. Let's see what color I have today.

Essie Mint Candy Apple is a pastel mint green creme. The color is definitely more green in real life than its appearing in the swatches below. All the pictures I took made the color look like a light pastel blue which it isn't. I'll probably do a re-swatch of this polish if I ever get a better lighting system. The formula and application was good. This is two coats with top coat.

Even though the swatches aren't showing the true color of this polish, I still like it regardless. Mints just make my hands look so tan even though I'm pale. What do you think of this color?

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser Review

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

Today, I will be reviewing the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser. This is a pretty unique cleanser because it comes out as a foam so let's hear what my thoughts are on it.

Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser Review

Description
Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser gives hydrating refreshment that deeply cleanses and conditions the skin and pores. Its formula has been designed to perfectly clean and condition without the tightening after-feel that harsh soap and detergents can leave behind. It claims to cleanse and soothe, balances pH level, and is deep  moisturizing.

Where to Buy
A bottle contains 100ml. Your can purchase the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser from Wishtrend for $16.99. They offer free worldwide standard shipping on orders over $69 along with free samples included in every order.

How to Get a $5 Voucher
If you use my promo code: 241709612 as the invitation code when you sign up for an account on Wishtrend, you can get a $5 voucher added to your account that can be used towards your purchases. I get a $5 voucher in return too if you use my promo code.

Packaging
It comes in plastic bottle with a pump application to it. The overall appearance to the cleaner is simple and clean. The cleanser has a see through plastic cap to protect the pump on it. I like the packaging but one thing I've noticed since I've been using this cleanser is that it leaks. The base of the pump does tend to leak out the liquid cleanser if you tip it over or shake the bottle. So, its not ideal to pack for travel but more suited to be sat on the bathroom counter top instead.
Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser Review

Texture and Scent
The cleanser itself is in liquid form in the bottle but when you pump it out of the bottle, it becomes a somewhat stiff foam. Its a white foam with a somewhat acidic smell to it. Its not a pleasant scent but its not terrible either. Since it comes out as a foam, I find it easier to work into my skin because I'm not using as much pressure to make the cleanser lather up since its already foamed up.
Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser Review

How to Use
First, wet the face a little. One pump of the cleanser is usually enough to cover my entire face and neck. Using circular motions, gently cleanse the skin for one minute using your fingers. Then rinse off and pat the skin dry with a face towel.

My Review
After testing and using the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser for around a month, I can say I quite like it. This was my first experience using a foam cleanser and I really like the results. After rinsing it off, I do notice that my skin doesn't feel tight or dry. Instead, it feels like my skin kept the moisture in while still being cleansed of impurities. The foam texture is fun to use and lather on the face too.

Final Thoughts
If I ran out of the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser, I would consider repurchasing it but its not a cleanser I have to have all the time. For $16.99, I think the price is a little expensive considering I can get a bigger sized cleaner for less. You get 100ml in this bottle but other cleansers I've purchased is usually around 150ml. I feel like I will finish this cleanser a lot faster compared to other cleansers I've used. However, I still do recommend this cleanser to someone who wants to try a foam cleanser that leaves the face feeling moisturized after use and is gentle on the skin. I definitely recommend this to someone with dry or sensitive skin.

Polka Dot Skittle

Monday, May 12, 2014

Here's my second manicure for this month's theme of skittles for The Nail Challenge Collaborative. I love using my dotting tool so I wanted to do a skittle using that particular tool.

Polka Dot Skittle Nail Art

First, I applied Nicole by OPI Stand By Your Manny on my pinky, Nicole by OPI Naturally on my ring and middle, and Nicole by OPI Alex By The Books on my pointer and thumb. For the nail art, I did various polka dot designs using the colors I've already mentioned on all the nails except for the pinky. Finished with a coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat.

I love how the colors work together here. What do you think of this polka dot skittle?

Total Value of the Box
I got three full sized products and six deluxe sized samples in Luckybox #3. The total value comes to $96.37, which is well over the price I paid for this box.

Final Thoughts
I quite like this box but there was some doubles I received which made it not as exciting as it could have been. The most exciting product to me is the LJH Dr's Care Vita Propolis Ampoule. This box has a lot more deluxe sized samples instead of full sized products compared to some boxes I've gotten but having nine products in total was nice to see and helps balance the box out. What are your thoughts on Luckybox #3? Have you tried Memebox yet?
