Blue Glitter and Taupe with Holo Leaves Nail Foil

Monday, November 30, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! I can't believe its the last day of November and that tomorrow is December. The end of the year is coming up really soon too. For today's manicure, I'm using a new nail art foil I received from Born Pretty Store. This one is different from the ones I've used before since the nail foil itself is in the shape of leaves instead of just being the whole sheet.

Blue Glitter and Taupe with Holo Leaves Nail Foil Nail Art

I used Splendor Nail Lacquer Neptune on the pinky and pointer nails. I used China Glaze Below Deck on the rest of the nails. Then I applied holographic leaves nail foil from Born Pretty Store on top. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I did have trouble getting the nail foil to transfer onto my nails in one piece. Its something I need to practice more on but overall, I like how it looks. The holographic leaves nail foil retails for $1.79 for a roll right now. I also top coated on top of the nail foil but it dulled the holographic shine the nail foil used to have. What do you think?

Madam Glam Summertime

Thursday, November 26, 2015

So today I'm going to be sharing my review on the Madam Glam Chameleon Gel in Summertime. I've never owned or tried a color changing polish let alone a gel one before so I was super excited to test one out. I took a ton of pictures of this polish so be aware that there's a lot of pictures coming up in this post.

Madam Glam Summertime is a sheer pale peachy pink with silver hexagon and micro glitters when warm and changes to a bright fiery orange red when cold. The formula was thick which is what you would expect of a gel polish but I was still able to apply the polish pretty easily on my nails. I took pictures of the polish when it was warm, when it was changing color, and when the polish was cold. This is two coats.

When its warm:

Transitioning from warm to cold:

When its cold:

This was my first experience trying out a color changing gel polish and it didn't disappoint at all. I was really happy with the color both when it was cold and warm. It was a bit hard taking pictures of it warm since I had to work fast but I did the best that I could and I was pretty happy with the final pictures I got. The Madam Glam Chameleon Gels retails for $19.95 for a 10ml bottle. What do you think?

Madam Glam is offering 40% off for the first 10 customers to order using the coupon code BFtpp. After the first 10 customers, the code will go down to 30% off. So click the link BFtpp and enter the coupon code at check out. This coupon is valid until November 27, 2015 (Black Friday Night).

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Your Favorite Food

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

Today's Twinie Tuesday theme is to create a manicure inspired by my favorite food. My one food addiction that I've always had a weak spot for is chocolate. I love any type of chocolate out there so I decided that it would be the perfect time for me to try creating some chocolate drips on my nails. Let's see how they turned out.

Glittery Brown with Chocolate Drips Nail Art

I used Barielle Cashmere Or Loose Me and topped it off with Nostalgic Slot on all the nails. I created the chocolate drips on the tips of my nails using American Apparel Raccoon with a dotting tool. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Please excuse the redness on my ring nail, I've been picking at my nails a lot which is bad. But aren't these delicious enough to eat? I like how they turned out a lot. I thought the glitter paired well with the brown and was a nice way to add some sparkle to the nails. What do you think?

Blue with Holographic Nail Foil

Monday, November 23, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! The weather has been starting to get a bit better lately. I've seen more sunshine these past few days compared to a few weeks ago. Its too bad that my nails are not in the best condition right now so I'm missing a lot of chances to take some good pictures.

Blue with Holographic Nail Foil Nail Art

I used OPI Suzi Says Feng Shui on all the nails except the ring. I applied an holographic nail foil in #132 from Born Pretty Store while the polish was not fully dried in random areas. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. For the ring, I used Julep Joy and applied Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat. Before the top coat fully dried, I applied a full nail stud in #22 on top from Born Pretty Store.

I like how subtle the nail art foil is. It's so different from ones I've used before and I like the effect on the nails. I wasn't able to capture the whole beauty of this nail foil but when the light hits it, it shines a rainbow of colors in this small dot like pattern. It costs $1.87 for a roll. Next time I'll probably layer it over a much more darker color. What do you think?

Madam Glam Beginners Soak-Off Gel Polish Kit Review & Swatches

Thursday, November 19, 2015

Here's my review and swatches on the Madam Glam Beginners Soak-Off Gel Polish Kit. I've had this gel gel polish kit for a while now but didn't really have a chance to try it out until recently. This is also my first time trying out gel polish so I was very excited when I received the package. I also have a color changing gel polish to show and review as well but that will be shared in another post so let's see what my thoughts on this kit were.

Madam Glam Beginners Soak-Off Gel Polish Kit Review & Swatches

Packaging
Everything came packaged really well to me. The polishes were all bubbled wrapped and the Mini LED Nail Lamp came in a box. The LED lamp is pretty small and compact so I think it would be easy to travel with and it wouldn't take up a lot of space on a table. For the polishes, you get the the Soak-Off Base Gel, the Soak-Off Top Gel, and a Soak-Off Gel Polish color of your choice. They come in a sleek all black bottle with a simple but feminine Madam Glam logo. The bottle size for the polishes are 15ml. I like that the polish color is shown on the cap of the bottle but I do wish the name of the polish color was on the bottom of the bottle as well instead of just the polish number.

How to Use
I'm a newbie to gel polish so I followed the steps Madam Glam had on their website HERE. They were pretty easy to follow along and I was able to create my first gel polish manicure on my nails following their instructions. If you prefer seeing the whole process, you can look for a step by step gel polish tutorial on Youtube too.

Swatches
Before showing how the color looked on my nails, I wanted to talk about the polish application. Comparing it to regular nail polish, I noticed that the gel polish was very thick in consistency. It did make it a bit hard to apply and I also had to make sure to apply each coat thinly so that each coat was able to be cured evenly.

Madam Glam Honeydew is a green honeydew creme. Formula was thick but as long as I took my time applying the polish, application was good. I think this color is perfect to wear during the Spring and Summer season. Its such a refreshing shade. This is two coats.

Wear Time
I forgot to take pictures but I wore the manicure for around 4 days and I noticed almost no chipping. This is really good since most normal nail polish manicures chips pretty fast on me. The important thing to do when applying gel polish is to make sure to apply the polish on the tips of the nails too. Since I noticed almost no chipping on my nails, I can feel pretty confident and say that the gel polish can probably last a while on my nails with minimal chipping.

My Review
For a beginner like myself that's new to gel polish, I thought this gel polish set was really great. It included all the essential things I needed like a mini LED lamp, the Soak-Off Base Gel, the Soak-Off Top Gel, and a Soak-Off Gel Polish color of your choice. The other tools you need for the gel polish process are things that everyone has in their household too. The process of applying the gel polish did take a bit longer than applying regular polish but the end result looked really good. I like that gel polish can stay on your nails longer without much noticeable wear. This makes it more convenient to wear if your traveling or don't have much time to spend doing your nails frequently. I can totally see myself using this set for when days I don't have time to change my nail color as frequently but I want something on my nails that won't wear down as much as regular polish does. The only thing I didn't like was the time it took for me to remove the gel polish off my nails.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I'm happy with the Madam Glam Beginners Soak-Off Gel Polish Kit. It's a nice beginner kit for someone who's interested in trying out gel polish without spending a fortune. It is a pretty expensive kit but taking into account that your getting the most essential items in the gel polish process, I believe its worth it. The Madam Glam Beginners Soak-Off Gel Polish Kit costs $104.84. Individual Madam Glam Soak-Off Gel Polish cost $19.95. The only negative thing about using gel polish is taking it off. I found it a very difficult to remove and I definitely had to spend more time taking it off compared to regular nail polish. I don't see myself using gel polish a lot on a daily basis but if I went on vacation or a long trip somewhere, its a nice system to use to achieve a manicure that lasts a longer time without chipping much. This would also be a great gift to give to someone who's into nail polish and has an interest in trying out gel polish or someone who likes wearing a nail color on their nails longer without having to change them as often. What do you think of the Madam Glam Beginners Soak-Off Gel Polish Kit?

Twinsie Tuesday: Fall to Winter Transitional

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is fall to winter transitional. I decided to choose a polish I think would be perfect to wear for both fall or winter. I also created another my own stamping decal again as a accent nail. Let's see the manicure then.

Fall to Winter Transitional Polish with Stamping Decal Accent Nail Art

First, I used OPI Meet Me on the Star Ferry on all the nails except the ring. For the ring nail, I used OPI I Don't Give A Rotterdam! and stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Black with stamping plate BP-48 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. Before stamping it on the nail, I filled in the design using Essie Mesmerize, Orly Ancient Jade, and American Apparel Port to create my own stamping decal. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

The decal turned out a little bit warped but I still like it. OPI Meet Me on the Star Ferry is a really nice purple in my collection and goes so well with the theme too. What do you think?

Blue Floral Vines Stamping with Glitter Accent

Monday, November 16, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! The weather has been getting colder so its been very cloudy and rainy outside where I live which makes it so much harder for me to take good pictures. I'm glad I have a few pictures in my blogging folder to still share though when I'm not able to take pictures until some good weather comes around. Let's see my manicure.

Blue Floral Vines Stamping with Glitter Accent Nail Art

I used Zoya Bevin on all the nails except the ring. I stamped with Black Dahlia Lacquer Blue Beauty with stamping plate BP-05 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order. For the ring, I used Wet n' Wild Candy-licious and topped it with Loaded Lacquer Giddy Up. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I quite like how these nails turned out. The polish I stamped with wasn't the most opaque color to use but it at least still showed up pretty well. What do you think?

Texture and Scent
The texture on the SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator is a thick gel like consistency. The product is a very light tinted pink with small orange colored capsules floating inside. When you rub and work the product into the skin, these orange capsules will break apart to help with the exfoliating process. As for the scent, its a fruity smell which I love.

SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator Review

How to Use
After washing your face and towel drying it, apply enough on to your entire face, massage your skin until particles of the formula fall out with dead skin. Rinse and follow with your skincare routine. Avoid direct contact with eyes and lips.

My Review
I really love the SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator. I've never tried an exfoliating product quite like it in which you rub the product into the skin and see your dead skin rub off with it. The smell on it is great and it really works to exfoliate any dead skin off my face without irritating my skin. I've tried harsher scrubs and those would always leave my face feeling a little irritated and red. The SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator never does that but instead makes my skin feel super smooth and soft after using it. My skin always feels super clean whenever I use it so I know that its working in exfoliating my dead skin off my face. I use the SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator around once a week or more if I feel like my skin needs a good cleansing.

Final Thoughts
Overall, I recommend the SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator to anyone who's looking for a good exfoliating product. I have dry skin myself so I can say for sure that this would work for people with dry skin. It wasn't a harsh exfoliator so it would be great for someone with sensitive skin to use as well. Mostly, I feel like the SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator can work with any skin type out there. Its pretty affordable priced at $15.99 which is around the same price most cleansing products are in the drugstore for me. I definitely plan on purchasing another bottle of it once I'm out of the one I'm currently using right now.

Twinsie Tuesday: Nails Inspired by my Cousins

Tuesday, November 10, 2015

Today's Twinise Tuesday theme was to create a manicure inspired by a child in my life. I don't have children myself so I decided to create a manicure inspired by my younger cousins. I have older cousins around my age but I wanted to try to draw inspiration from my four younger cousins that are all boys from my mother's side of the family.

Sports Themed Stamping with Glitter Accent Nail Art

I used China Glaze Starboard on all the nails except the ring. I stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Black with stamping plate BP-38 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off. For the ring nail, I used OPI Mermaid's Tears and topped it with China Glaze Can I Get An Untz Untz. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Don't these look great? Since my younger cousins are all boys, I thought a sporty design would fit with the theme. What do you think?

Royal Blue with Rose Gold Tips

Monday, November 9, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! Last week was pretty eventful for me. My mom decided she wanted to get the carpet in our rooms cleaned professionally so I spent a lot of time these past few days tidying up. I didn't really see much of a difference compared to when I clean it using a vacuum though. Anyways, I have another pretty simple manicure to share today.

Royal Blue with Rose Gold Tips Nail Art

I used Essie Mesmerize on all the nails. Making sure to wipe off the brush, I applied Orly Rage on the tips of the nails. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

Royal Blue with Rose Gold Tips Nail Art

These turned out okay to me. I first saw Kelli from The Nail Polish Challenge create a manicure like this but mine doesn't really look as good as hers. I might have to give it another try later in the future. What do you think?

October 2015 Product Empties

Thursday, November 5, 2015

Here's my product empties for the month of October! The month kind of flew by for me so I can't believe the year is almost over. Anyways, let's see what products I managed to empty.

October 2015 Product Empties

1. Loco Coco Coconut Oil Lip Balm
I'm not the hugest fan of the smell of coconut but surprisingly, I really did enjoy this lip balm. There was a coconut scent to it but it was very light. It was a moisturizing lip balm and would definitely be a lip product I would love to use again.

2. Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Series Shampoo and Repairing Conditioner
I got these two samples from a Birchbox a while back. I actually quite like them. They felt hydrating on my hair and it made my hair feel pretty soft after using them.

3. Mizon Olive Cocoa Butter Foot Cream
This cream was pretty moisturizing and didn't really have much of a scent to it. I've never used a foot cream before but it kept my skin pretty moisturized and I sometimes used it on my legs too.

4. Hiaromax Vitamin Stick
This moisture stick was an okay product for me. It had a nice cooling sensation to it but I felt like it was very thin and not very moisturizing on the skin.

5. Skin Ceramic Donkey Milk Argan Oil Steam Cream
This cream was so hydrating on my dry skin so I've been using it as my night cream. There was so much product in the container that it took me quite a while to finish up. Even though it was very moisturizing on my face, I did notice that it does leave my skin feeling pretty oily and shiny so that's why I've been using it more at night time instead.

6. Beautymate Bright Up Nano Eye Mask
I got these eye masks from sasa.com a while back because I've heard good things about them. There was seven packs in the box and they were pretty moisturizing and soothing on my under eye area. There was a lot of product in the pack so I was able to use the eye mask more than once. They did help to reduce the puffy area of my under eye area which was great so they would be something I would repurchase again.

That's it for my product empties for October. I didn't finish a lot but at least I was still able to empty a few products. Let me know what you've finished this month too.

Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by Your Favorite Movie

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is inspired by your favorite movie. I've recently been obsessed with How To Train Your Dragon. I've heard of the movie for a while but I never watched it until I saw it on TV during one weekend. So, let's see how my nails turned out.

How To Train Your Dragon Movie Inspired Nail Art

I used Essie Rock The Boat on all the nails. I first stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in White with stamping plate BM-312 and then stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Black with stamping plate BM-305 on just the ring nail. You can use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order at Born Pretty Store. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

How To Train Your Dragon Movie Inspired Nail Art

I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. I went with a more simpler design but I think it works especially since the movie has a lot of great scenes in the sky. What do you think?

Blue Green Saran Wrap with Holographic Glitter

Monday, November 2, 2015

Happy Monday Blues! I cannot believe its already November, time sure flies by fast. The next thing I will know, it will be the end of the year. The weather has been getting colder where I live as well so its making me want to stay at indoors more. Anyways, let's see today's blue manicure.

Blue Green Saran Wrap with Holographic Glitter Nail Art

I used L'Oreal Paris Avenues on all the nails. Taking China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint, I applied it onto the nails using the saran wrap method. Topped the nails off with Sephora by OPI Meet Me At Disco. Finished with Glisten & Glow HK Girl Top Coat.

I thought this looked lovely. The subtle holographic glitter on top really makes the manicure come together. What do you think?
