December 2016 Product Empties

Friday, December 30, 2016

Here's my product empties for the month of December. Since the year is ending, I wanted to clear out any unused makeup items I haven't touched or have kept for a long time so this empties post is going to be pretty long.

December 2016 Product Empties
December 2016 Product Empties

1. L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Nutri-Gloss Luminizer High Shine Glossing Mist
I received this product from Influenster a while back along with a shampoo and conditioner from the same line. I quite liked this hair mist after using it too. It had a good smell to it and I did notice my hair looking a little more glossy after using it. It didn't weigh my hair down too which is nice.

2. Various Makeup Products
Since its the end of the year, I wanted to go through my makeup collection and throw out products that have either expired or that I haven't used in a long time. I don't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis so my collection is pretty small but I always find it difficult to part with things though.

3. Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
I've had this sample of  makeup remover for a while now but haven't had the chance to use it until recently. I don't wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis so this worked great in removing the little makeup I had on. It does leave an oily feeling to the skin so I do follow up with a cleanser afterwards.

4. Dove Advanced Hair Series Regenerative Nourishment Shampoo and Conditioner
I got these two sample sized shampoo and conditioner from a sample website and I really like them both. It made my hair feel soft and smell really good. The scent on it actually lasted on my hair for quite a while too. Much longer than most shampoos and conditioners that I've used.

5. Le Petit Prince Creme
This was my night cream/overnight cream that I've been using. The texture was like a thick gel so it definitely felt very moisturizing on my skin. The scent on it smelled really good too. Since its on the heavier side, I do only recommend using this at night since it really helps to lock in the moisture while your sleeping.

6. A.H.C Whitening Special Gen Solution
This is a concentrated whitening toner that's suppose to take care of dark skin and maintain water balance. Like the previous product from this line, I really like the smell of this product. It has a nice watery consistency and it absorbed really well when I applied it on my skin. I didn't notice much whitening but my face did feel hydrated when I had this toner on.

7. WITHME White Perfection Marin Silk Formula Hydrating Cream
At first, I tried using this as a face cream but I didn't like the smell on it at all so I switched it and started using it as a body cream instead. I didn't notice much whitening happening but it did help to keep my skin hydrated. The texture on this product is not a cream at all though. Its more like a liquid gel like texture. I found it to leak if I left it standing so I had to store is upside down to prevent that. Probably not something I would repurchase.

8. Arm & Hammer Extra Whitening Advance White Stain Protection Freshmint
This has been the toothpaste I've been using and I like it. I've been using the Arm & Hammer brand more often since I got a few tubes of them on sale. I do feel like it helps to keep my teeth white and it always make my mouth feel refreshed after I use it. I would repurchase this too.

That's all for my product empties for December. I can't believe the year is ending in just a few days. It's been a good year for me so I'll see everyone in the new year then. Let me know what you've used up this month in the comments too.

Blue Green Glass Fleck with Silver Floral Stamping

Monday, December 26, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. My family doesn't really celebrate so it was just a pretty normal day for me. Its boxing day today but I don't plan to go out to shop since I don't like all the crowds and most of the sales don't really interest me too. Anyways, let's see today's blue manicure.

Blue Green Glass Fleck with Silver Floral Stamping Nail Art

I used Pure Ice Twisted on all the nails. I stamped with China Glaze Devotion with MoYou London Artist Collection 11. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.

I thought these turned out so pretty. I like floral designs so the stamping plate I used here was perfect for that. I've been using my Moyou London stamping plates more recently and I'm really pleased with them so far. What do you think?

Twinsie Tuesday: Holiday Special Mani

Tuesday, December 20, 2016

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a holiday special mani. I wanted to try out creating this tree design using striping tape for the theme so I did just that. I added some festive gold polka dots over a red base as well so let's see how they turned out.

Festive Holiday Mix and Match Nail Art

Starting with my pinky nail, I used China Glaze De-Light. For my ring and middle nail, I used L'Oreal Pistachio Dream. After that fully dried, I used striping tape to create the trees and filled it in with Color Club Ho-Ho-Holly. I peeled the striping tape off while the polish was still wet to reveal the design. Then I used a dotting tool to decorate the tree with the red and gold polish I used in this manicure. For the rest of the nails, I used OPI Off with Her Red! and then I stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Polish in Gold with stamping plate BP-L006 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.

I had a little trouble with these nails but in the end, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I like that each design kind of goes really well with each other too. What do you think?

Dark Blue with White Snowflakes Stamping

Monday, December 19, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! It snowed a lot yesterday where I live which is awesome. I don't have work until Wednesday this week so I'm going to mostly stay at home and rest. If I can and if the weather is good, I'm going to try to dedicate some time to blogging since I'm kind of getting behind on some posts I wanted done. Anyways, let's see today's nail art.

Dark Blue with White Snowflakes Stamping

I used OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue! and Sephora by OPI Meet Met At Disco on all the nails. I stamped with M Polish Snowberry with stamping plate BP-L032 from Born Pretty Store. You can use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your entire order. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.

I'm so in love with these snowflakes that I stamped on! There just so pretty and I like that there in different shapes and sizes too. I did mess up a little bit on the middle nail but overall, I'm very pleased with this design. What do you think?

Color Club Berry and Bright

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Hi everyone! So for the past week or so, its been snowing on and off which is exciting for me. I really like seeing all the white snow even though its super hard to walk in. It doesn't feel like winter to me until it starts snowing a lot. So for today's polish swatch, I'm sharing a red that's perfect to wear for winter and for the holiday season.

Color Club Berry and Bright is a medium red foil with some purple micro shimmers in it. This color is one that really glows on the nails when you have it on. Depending on the light and angle, you can see flashes of the purple micro shimmers in this polish. I think its a great polish to wear for the holiday season too. This polish was almost an one coater for me if applied on thickly so the formula and application was good on it.  This is two coats.

Having this red polish on my nails puts me in such a festive holiday mood right now. I think its such a nice Christmas red too that I usually wear this color a lot during the winter season. What do you think?

Winter Snowflakes and Trees Stamping

Monday, December 12, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! Today's manicure that I'm sharing is also my nail art entry into Nail Polish Canada's 2016 Holiday Nail Art Contest. I originally was going to create a more freehanded design but I didn't have time so this is what I came up with instead. It kind of has a cold winter scenery look to it. If you like my nail art design, please be sure to vote for me here.

Winter Snowflakes and Trees Stamping Nail Art

I used L'Oreal Paris Avenues and China Glaze Fairy Dust on all the nails. I double stamped with Ya Qin An 25 and Born Pretty Store Stamping Nail Polish 7# with stamping plate BP-21 from Born Pretty Store. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order. Then I stamped some images using American Apparel Hassid and Milani White On The Spot with stamping plate BM-H02 from Bundle Monster. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.

This is my first time I really layered on stamping designs in a manicure. I always liked the look of them when I saw other nail bloggers do it so I wanted to give it a try. For my first time, I think it turned out pretty great. I did kind of mess up the ring and middle nail though. I also should have applied China Glaze Fairy Dust last since all the stamping I did kind of covered it up here. What do you think?

Holiday Gift Giving Ideas: Beauty and Nails

Friday, December 9, 2016

Hi everyone! This is my second holiday gift giving ideas post featuring Avon and mark. products I recently received from Avon Canada. If you have someone in your life that's really into beauty, makeup or nails, I hope this gift guide will help to give you ideas on what you can possibly gift to them.

Avon True Color for the Love of Makeup Artist Palette
This palette includes 30 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer/contour, 2 highlighters, and 5 lip glosses. It also comes with a dust cover with a shade glossary, a mirror, and lip applicators inside the palette. This is a pretty compact palette that includes a nice variety of face and eye products. I think this would make a great gift to someone who travels a lot or for someone who wants most of their face products in one palette.

Silicone Facial Cleansing Pads - Set of 2
Set of 2 reusable silicon facial scrubbing pads (one pink, one blue). Soft bristles gently cleanse and exfoliate. These are some neat cleansing tools to use for a good scrub on the face with any cleanser of your choice. As someone who's really into skincare, these are nice to use especially if your traveling or want an inexpensive tool to help scrub the face.

Silicone Facial Cleansing Pads

Quilted Cosmetic Bag
Bag opens up into a large flat surface with a lip to prevent items from rolling off. Has a ruffled look when closed. Also has a inside pocket. This bag seems really nicely made and its a neat way to hold your beauty products while your getting ready. Another great gift to someone who travels frequently too.

Glitter Manicure Kit
Glittery faux-leather case includes cuticle scissors, cuticle pusher, nail clipper, nail file, and tweezers inside. This was a cute manicure kit that includes all the necessary tools to prepare your nails for a manicure. The only negative thing I didn't like about it was that the glitter on the outside of the case does come off when you rub at it.

Avon Gel Finish 7 in 1 Nail Enamel - 12ml
A variety of nail colors to choose from with 7 benefits (shine, vivid color, strengthener, base coat, top coat, gel-like finish, protection) in one bottle. The colors I received are Glimmer, Envy, and Roses are Red. If you have someone who's really into nail polish, these colors are great gifts. They applied really smoothly on the nails, pigmentation on them is great and there's a variety of colors and finishes to choose from too. I own a few Avon polishes myself and really enjoy them.

Avon Gel Finish 7 in 1 Nail Enamel

mark. Glam Plan Brush Set
Five essential full-sized brushes (powder, angled blush, eye shadow, blending and angled eyeliner) in a matching travel canister. The brushes inside this set are pretty soft and I like that you get both face and eye brushes inside too. The canister it comes in makes this set very travel friendly and convenient to use as well.

mark. Totally Nailed It Trend Mini Nail Lacquer Set
All the marking for the most magnificent mani in an on-trend top-handled box. Set includes base coat, two nail polish colors, and top coat. This is such a cute mini nail polish set. These single eye shadows has an intense pigmentation, edgy metallic finish, rebellious color that won't crease or smudge, and you can apply it dry or wet for extra impact. Holiday Gift Giving Ideas: Body Products

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

Hi everyone! For today's post, I'm doing something that I've never done on the blog before and that's a holiday gift giving ideas guide. The reason I'm sharing this post is because I recently got sent a package from Avon Canada of some of their holiday products that's perfect as gift for a friend or family member.

I wasn't able to try out everything in the package that I received yet but I wanted to share some of the products they offered that might be a good idea for a gift for someone in your life. I hope you enjoy this post and it helps gives someone out there an idea for a gift.

Avon Prima Eau De Parfum (50ml), Avon Prima Body Lotion (200ml), Avon Prima Shower Gel (200ml)
Experience the dramatic blend of elegant plum, intoxicating rose and intense white patchouli that lasts all day. I'm not the greatest at describing scents but this set smells really good. It has a sweet floral scent so I think this would be a perfect set to gift to someone who loves trying out new perfumes that's more on the feminine girly side.

Ultra Sexy Body Mist Collection (Includes Ultra Sexy Heart, Ultra Sexy Pink, and Ultra Sexy Lace) - 150ml each
Flirty, romantic, or smouldering, this trio of luxury body mists is perfect for all your moods. Ultra Sexy Heart has a mix of luscious cherries, rose petals, and decadent chocolate marshmallow. Ultra Sexy Pink has flirty notes of fresh raspberry, blushing peony, and chiffon musk. Ultra Sex Lace has smoldering infusion of provocative pear and magnolia laced with sensual golden amber. This is another great set you can either gift as a whole to one person or you can gift each bottle to three different individuals.

mark. Rebel Luxe Eau De Toilette Spray - 50ml
Part edgy, part opulent. Be the leader of your own style revolution with this chic blend of irresistible dark plum, sophisticated baccarat rose and mysterious patchouli. Top notes are dark plum essence, Italian mandarin, and golden apple. Middle notes are baccarat rose, iris essence, and jasmine. Base notes are patchouli, caramel liqueur, and liquid musk. Unlike the Avon Prima Eau De Parfum, this particular scent is more on the sexier side because it smells more muskier to me. Its definitely a perfume I would wear more when I go out at night compared to the day time.

mark. Rebel Luxe Eau De Toilette Spray

That's all for the body related products but I have one more holiday gift giving ideas post to share that features more beauty and nail products so be on the look out for that one that's coming out this week too.

OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue!

Monday, December 5, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! For today's post, I'm sharing a blue polish that I think is great to wear right now. For the colder seasons like fall and winter, I tend to gravitate to darker shades on my nails. So let's see the color I'm sharing then.

OPI Yoga-ta Get This Blue! is a deep dark shimmery navy blue. The shimmer in this polish when the light hits it is absolutely gorgeous. The shimmer shines a lighter blue when the light hits it so it just makes the color glow on the nails. I like that this polish is so dark but you can definitely still tell its a navy blue color. The formula and application on this polish was great that I could have even gotten away with just one coat of this color too. This is two coats.

I don't wear this polish nearly enough which is something I need to change. It's the perfect color to wear during the colder season of fall and winter as well. What do you think?

November 2016 Product Empties

Thursday, December 1, 2016

Here's my product empties post for November. Its almost the end of the year as we enter into December. This year seemed to really fly by for me. I finished quite a few products so let's hear my thoughts on them.

November 2016 Product Empties

1. SKIN&LAB Dr. Vita Clinic Gently Vita Exfoliator
This was my first peeling type exfoilator and I loved it. It was very effective and every time I used it, my face will feel very clean and refreshed. It has a great scent to it and its so cool to see my dead skin peel away when I use this product. I'm going to definitely repurchase another bottle of it. You can check out my full review on it here.

2. L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Nutri-Gloss Luminizer Shampoo
I got this product from Influenster to try out and it was nice. It made my hair feel and look good when I used it. It also had a nice scent to it too. Even though I liked it, I probably won't purchase a bottle because I prefer 2 in 1 hair products since its more convenient and easier for me to use.

3. A.H.C Whitening Special Gen Serum
This was a pretty decent sample size of this whitening serum. I quite liked it too. It had a nice scent to it and it absorbed pretty well into my skin. I didn't notice a lot of whitening happening but it did help to keep my skin feeling moisturized. This product would be something I would look into purchasing in a full size of too.

4. Listerine Total Care Zero
My most favorite mouth wash from Listerine. I've tried a few other kinds from Listerine but nothing compares to this one for me. It always leaves my mouth feeling very clean and refreshed every time I use it.

5. L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Nutri-Gloss Luminizer Conditioner
Like the shampoo I used up, I received this conditioner from Influenster to try out and it was good. It helped to moisturize my hair and left it feeling pretty soft when I rinsed it out. Probably won't repurchase it though since I do prefer 2 in 1 hair products more.

6. Lassie'el Night Miracle Brightening Pearl Shell
This is an overnight mask pack that your suppose to leave on during the night and rinse off in the morning. It came with two packs which your suppose to use up in one go when you open one. This particular one had shimmer to it which I didn't really like. It did keep my skin very moisturized during the night though which I liked.

7. Lassie'el Night Miracle Soothing Mango
I liked this overnight mask much more than the brightening pearl shell one since it didn't have any shimmer in it. It smelled faintly like mangoes which I liked and it was very moisturizing on my skin too. One pack was a lot for just my face and neck so I used any leftovers on other dry areas of my body like elbows,  hands, and etc.

That's all for my product empties for November. A lot of these products I used up were expiring very soon so I'm happy that I was able to finish them all up before they turned bad. Let me know if you've tried any of the products that I mentioned and what you've finished up too.

Matte Neutral and Turquoise Leopard Print

Monday, November 28, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! For today's manicure, I was inspired by this OPI Nordic Collection Leopard Print Nail Art from Chalkboard Nails that I saw when I was googling leopard print manicures online.  I always like creating leopard print designs and I wanted to try it with a matte top coat too so here's the result of it.

Matte Neutral and Turquoise Leopard Print Nail Art

I used Essie Very Structured on all the nails. I created the leopard print using American Apparel Port and MisQs GR001 with a dotting tool. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat and NYC Matte Me Crazy Mattifying Top Coat.

Matte Neutral and Turquoise Leopard Print Nail Art
Matte Neutral and Turquoise Leopard Print Nail Art

I really like how these turned out even though the base polish turned out a bit darker than what I was expecting. I think adding a matte top coat really helped to blend the turquoise and neutral colors together better too. I did wish the lighting was a bit better when I took these pictures since they look pretty dark here. What do you think?

Twinsie Tuesday: Share Your Polish Collection

Tuesday, November 22, 2016

Today's Twinsie Tuesday theme is to share your polish collection. To be honest, my nail polish collection isn't really organized since I just have them all randomly stored in two Melmers that I purchased from Michael's. Since each drawer basically looks almost the same, I'm just going to share one picture of it instead.

My Nail Polish Collection
My Nail Polish Collection

I try to keep most of the same brands together in one drawer if I can but most of my drawers look like the one above. I haven't purchased new polishes in a pretty long time so everything I own fits inside these two Melmers with some room to spare. I'm excited to see the everyone's polish collection since I think there's would be much more exciting than mine.

Matte Green and Teal Dry Brush Nail Art

Monday, November 21, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! For today's manicure, I'm showing a design I've done multiple times already using a fan brush. Its so simple to do and the end result always ends up looking pretty great too. Let's see it then.

Matte Green and Teal Dry Brush Nail Art

I used Sally Hansen Evening Fog on all the nails. I used the dry brush technique to apply on China Glaze Starboard and China Glaze Exotic Encounters horizontally and vertically on the nails. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat and then a coat of NYC Matte Me Crazy Mattifying Top Coat.

Matte Green and Teal Dry Brush Nail Art
Matte Green and Teal Dry Brush Nail Art

It's been too long since I've used a matte top coat so it was great using it in this manicure. The only negative thing was that the green and teal did end up looking very similar to one another on the nails. What do you think?

Orly It's Not Rocket Science

Thursday, November 17, 2016

Hi everyone! Today, I'm sharing a polish swatch. I've been trying to share more swatch posts lately since I have so many polishes in my collection that I haven't worn and its much easier to do compared to nail art designs. This particular green polish I'm showing is a pretty unique shade in my collection so let's see it.

Orly It's Not Rocket Science is a murky mossy green with gold, yellow, and blue flecks with a slight duochrome to it in a sheer swampy green base. The color is one of those ugly shades that not everyone would like but there fun to own a few. Its definitely a unique color in my collection. The formula was nice so application was easy on it. This is two coats.

Orly It's Not Rocket Science
Orly It's Not Rocket Science

The blue flecks and shift to this polish isn't noticeable in my swatches but in real life, you can really see it. Its so unexpected and makes the polish that much more unique to me. What do you think?

Grey with Blue Texture and Dark Blue Swirls Stamping

Monday, November 14, 2016

Happy Monday Blues! For today's blue manicure, I'm sharing a simple stamping over a texture polish. I own a few texture polishes and I really enjoy using them underneath a stamping design. So let's see it then.

Grey with Blue Texture and Dark Blue Swirls Stamping Nail Art

I used Julie G Blueberry Fizz on the ring and middle nail. I stamped with Born Pretty Stamping Nail Polish 7# with MoYou London Suki Collection 07. Use coupon code YCL91 for 10% off your order from Born Pretty Store. For the rest of the nails, I used OPI I Don't Give A Rotterdam!. Finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat on all the nails except the ring and middle.

Grey with Blue Texture and Dark Blue Swirls Stamping Nail Art
Grey with Blue Texture and Dark Blue Swirls Stamping Nail Art

I'm really liking how these turned out. The dark blue swirls look so good against the blue texture polish. I also like the look of the blue and grey color scheme in this manicure too. What do you think?
